Republic
by Plato
The Republic is a philosophical dialogue written by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato around 375 BC. Presented as a conversation led by Socrates, the work explores the meaning of justice and asks whether a just life is happier and better than an unjust one. Plato examines justice both in the individual soul and in the state, arguing that understanding justice in society helps clarify justice in human character.
